Rob Dyrdek was born on June 28, 1974 in Kettering, Ohio. He earned his title as a professional skateboarder in 1990 at the age of 16. He currently skates & owns DC Shoes, Alien Workshop Skateboards, Plan B Skateboards, Silver Trucks, and Reflex bearings. He also became sponsored by Spy Optics and Red Bull. He also is a amateur rally-racer. He competed in the 2005 Gumball 3000 Rally driving a Subaru WRX STi sponsored by DC Shoes.He currently resides in Hollywood, California. As of November 2006, Dyrdek and his bodyguard, Chris Boykin (commonly known as Big Black), are featured in a reality show on MTV called "Rob and Big", for which he is also an executive producer. Adding to the cast is Meaty (Rob's bulldog), Drama (Rob's cousin), and Bam Bam (Big Black's friend).
Dyrdek also has a line of skateboarding-related products, including a skateboarding/athletic shoe from DC Shoes, called "The Dyrdek1." He also helped build the Dyrdek/DC Shoe skate park in Kettering, Ohio. Rob also helped build a private indoor skate park called the TF, or Training Facility in San Diego, California.

Rob's also got a truck big enough to match his personality. Dubbed the UAV---Urban Assault Vehicle---the UAV is Rob's version of the ultimate skate truck. The heavily modified Yukon Denali has 23-inch-rims, a custom DC grill, and a stealth-black paint and tint job. Those are just the obvious customizations, because the UAV is kitted out with the ultimate practical skateboarding accessories, including built-in shelves for decks and shoes, a generator for night filming, a set of movie lights, flat-bars mounted underneath the running boards, and more.
